The cover art featuring Antetokounmpo had been inadvertently leaked a week prior. On July 2nd, the cover player for the Standard Edition of the game was revealed to be Giannis Antetokounmpo. The cover art is a departure from the usual style for NBA 2K, and notably features LeBron wearing a generic black jersey. On June 5th 2018, LeBron James was revealed as the cover player for the 20th Anniversary Edition of NBA 2K19. It also retains additional content such as the historical squads and All-Time Teams. The current gen version of the game is built on the Flowtech engine.
